Citizens for a Better Plan is a grassroots campaign by concerned citizens who want affordable housing, but who also believe Steamboat Springs needs a better plan than the YVHA has proposed. We want YVHA to take a year, fix the plan, and create affordable housing solutions that better meet the needs of our community. The revised plan should be fully financed to account for all the costs of development and impacts on the community; provide a mix of affordable and for-sale units, and housing types similar to Old Town - not a cluster of big, tall, dense apartments; and shouldn’t treat the hard working residents of the Brown Ranch as second class citizens who lack important community amenities like City parks and transit. It's only fair that all Steamboat Springs’ residents should be treated the same, and it’s the right thing to do.
Citizens for a Better Plan is funded by locals. We aren’t bankrolled by a multi-billion dollar New Jersey developer who’s looking to make a big profit in Steamboat.
